The period from Monday 23rd March until at least mid April is anticipated to witness significant disruption to the uplift and export of mail to many long haul (non-European) destinations.  Airlines continue to cancel passenger flights thereby exacerbating issues with freight capacity. Mail is becoming a casualty in the prioritisation of goods to be loaded for export and is increasingly off-loaded to wait for the next available transport. Further to prevent a large build up of dated mail (with service standards and service guarantees having been suspended) post offices are unilaterally streaming mail through any available channel including now surface modes.

Service indicators for mail are now being estimated in weeks and not days. We expect considerable variations in delivery from country to country at least to the end of April and more likely into May 2020.

IMX is processing all mail on a daily basis and lodging mail with forwarders and entering the mail into available networks. The resultant services we expect to be highly irregular.

Clients with urgent demands to specific countries we recommend you contact IMX for advice.

Express services continue to operate albeit with many service guarantee suspensions yet with visibility end to end.
